The Executive Committee of the International Public Debate Association is a
three-member body which oversees and coordinates the administrative
functions of the organization. This committee is constituted as a
self-perpetuating board which, while it does not generally initiate change
within the organization, controls an absolute veto over proposals for
change. In addition to other factors, Executive Committee members are chosen
because they possess a passionate commitment to the underlying philosophical
principles of the IPDA. The members of this small administrative body are
firmly committed to the ideal of academic debate as a communicative,
audience-centered activity.
